[Part 2]

Psychologists know they have to be careful when exploring the human mind, because you never know what you'll find. A series of psychological experiments over the years have yielded terrifying conclusions on the issues.

Oh, we're not talking about an occasional psychopath. No, we're talking about you. The experiments speak for themselves:

# 4. The Experiment of the Good Samaritan (1973)

The Preparation: The biblical story of the Good Samaritan, if you have not heard, is about a Samaritan who was helping to move a wounded man in need, while others went straight. The psychologists John Darley and Daniel C. Batson wanted to test whether religion has any effect on this type of behavior.

Participants were a group of students seminarians. At half the students were given the history of the Good Samaritan, and requested that it undertake a sermon about it in another building. On the other half was told to give a lecture on job opportunities at a seminar.

As an extra ingredient, the subjects were given various deadlines they have to deliver the sermon, so that some estissem in a hurry and some do not.

Then the path of the building, they would fall by a person who appeared to need help.

The result: People who had studied the history of the "Good Samaritan" not stopped more often than any of those who prepare for a speech on job opportunities. The factor that seemed to really make a difference was how the students were rushed.

In fact, if pressed by time, only 10 percent would stop to give any assistance, even when they were on their way to give a sermon about how fabulous it is for people to stop and help.

What this says about you: The truth is that we are so susceptible to hypocrisy as are the politicians. After all, it's much easier to talk to a roomful of people to help strangers smelly bleeding in the middle of the street. Thus, even the act of emphasizing the hypocrisy of another is a form of hypocrisy.

And if you think that these results are restricted only to students seminarians hypocrites, remember a few years ago, when cameras captured at least a dozen cars refuse to stop for a woman, who was hurt on the road.
