How to disable automatic area code in Outlook contacts

Posted by: Marcelo Galvani In: General

The tip came from a coworker and the instructions were mounted on the other. Thanks Grecco, Caius won.

The problem appears when the BlackBerry address book integrates with Outlook, which tells the bb an area code (country / region) often unwanted, preventing the proper functioning.

The correction is made through a change in the Windows registry, so the following key should be created with extreme care, because any error in the input can damage your PC.

The correct and create a backup before anything else.

To this end, the open registry "regedit.exe" (Figure 1), select "File"> "Export"> (Figure 2) choose the place where you want to save the file with all the registry entries (Figure 3);

Once backed up, even in the Windows registry, go to the key:

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Telephony \ Locations"

  • Within "LOCATIONS" add right mouse button, a new "key" named "Location0"; (Figure 1)
  • Within "Location0", create a new entry with the right mouse button of type "String Value" and name it "areacode", (Figure 2)
  • Do not place any value in and close the registry;

Then open the Control Panel and enter the settings for Phone / Modem.

The result is this (Figure 1), which appeared on "Locations" a blank to be selected;
