I got together and read some articles that discuss the importance of the Amazon to the world, some say that Brazil is not doing a good job in preserving the forest and that perhaps this "administration" should move to other hands, touching on very sensitive points .
The important words in mind is that these same countries which now criticize what is being done here, were masters in their own devastate forests in the name of a reckless and unbridled development with the environment. And worse, are primarily responsible for greenhouse gas emissions.
As the president himself said:
"It's very funny that countries which account for 70% of pollution of the planet are now an eye in the Amazon, as if it were only our responsibility to do what they did all the years past. The world needs to understand that the Brazilian Amazon has owner. It is the Brazilian people, who are the Indians, the rubber tappers, fishermen, but also us, that we realize that we must reduce the deforestation and the burning. "(Text extracted from the site Folha Online)
It is also interesting that all look what happened is happening in the rest of the world. Facts like these appear below, taken from this page:
"Forests, which once covered 80 to 90% in Europe, currently account for 33% of land cover"
"Large number of swamps and moor off the western and southern Europe - Spain has lost 60%"
"Between a third and half of all fish, reptiles, mammals and amphibians of Europe are threatened with extinction"
"The total area of protected areas in Europe tripled since 1972, but are mostly, small and fragmented, and lack of funds and human resources for the effective protection"
That other page, in English, speaks out about the millions of acres of forests in the United States who disappeared in a few decades.
Well, a little more obvious, the fact that nations who today criticize us most do not have their forests, as well as being responsible for most gaseous pollutants emitted does not give you an excuse for carelessness with what is ours. I believe the government is doing its part but, as always, so very slowly.
My dear, I am not and I have no intention to be the owner of the truth then I ask you to cooperate with comments and suggestions.
In continuation I put some graphs extracted from mongabay.com on the subject.
In all plots of deforestation, countries in focus are, of course, those who still have their forests and therefore receive as much attention.
The chart below shows the forest cover by country.

Now see the annual change in forest area in percentage.

Brazil is much better than other nations, but as the Amazon is vast, that percentage, when placed in hectares, is much greater than anywhere else, as we see in the chart below.
