A ONU resolveu fazer uma pesquisa em todo o mundo e enviou uma carta para o representante de cada país com a seguinte pergunta: The UN decided to do a search around the world and sent a letter to the representative of each country with the following question:
“POR FAVOR, DIGA HONESTAMENTE, QUAL É A SUA OPINIÃO SOBRE A ESCASSEZ DE ALIMENTOS NO RESTO DO MUNDO!” "PLEASE DIGA HONESTAMENTE, WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THE PAUCITY OF FOOD IN THE REST OF THE WORLD!"
A pesquisa foi um fracasso. The search was a failure. Sabe por que? You know why?
- Nenhum dos países europeus entendeu o que era “ESCASSEZ”. -- None of the European countries understand what was "PAUCITY."
- Os africanos… não sabiam o que era ”ALIMENTO”. -- The African… did not know what was "FOOD".
- Os cubanos estranharam e pediram maiores explicações sobre o que era ”OPINIÃO”. -- The Cubans estranharam and asked for further explanation on what was "OPINION".
- Os argentinos desconhecem o significado de ”POR FAVOR”. -- The Argentines know the meaning of "PLEASE".
- Os norte-americanos nem imaginam o que significa “RESTO DO MUNDO”. -- The Americans not imagine what "REST OF THE WORLD."
- O congresso brasileiro está, até agora, debatendo o que é “HONESTAMENTE”. -- The Brazilian congress is, until now, discussing what is "HONESTAMENTE."
